You could go by the "rule of one," as I call it: Serve one tablespoon of each food you're eating at a meal for each year of your child's life, plus the recommended 16 to 24 ounces of milk throughout the day. Softer cuts of meat like chicken or turkey can be a fountain of protein for your growing tot. Finger food is food that's cut up into pieces big enough for your child to hold in their fist with a bit sticking out. One-year-olds are another matter.
